What do you do when your mind falls out? Pick up and start again Where have you been in the in between? Where you thought you'd find a friend It's easier to walk away Than turn and face the slow decay That's been growing since the day You let them in your mind Something's wrong Let it roll on Something's gone Time to move on Or i'm gonna lose my mind How do you see when you've lost the map? Close your eyes and flow Why do you hold so tight to love? You've got to let it go I'm terrified to let them in Blowing on the raging wind There's the start now lets begin To let them in your mind Something's wrong Let it roll on Something's gone Time to move on Or i'm gonna lose my mind What do you do when the song is through? Did it have to blow your mind? No need to alleviate It happens all the time

about

Side A, Off With His Head is the first look into the psychedelic world of Cantrips – a slinky warm groove underpinned by introspective vocals, addressing the chaos and beauty of navigating loss and lack of direction.

Side B, Don't Open that Bag sees an exploration into the wonderful world of cinematic garage psych. “Don’t Open That Bag” is a reference to the bag of wind that was gifted to Odysseus by King Aeolus in Homer’s epic, the Odyssey. The bag is opened right before reaching home and the winds of change blow the crew all the way back to the beginning of their journey. This percussive mid-tempo groove burns low and slow as fuzzed guitar and farfisa organ battle for supremacy.

Recorded in a dusty garage in Thornbury through a crusty 80s mixing console, Cantrips is built around a celebration of home recorded, microphone captured sounds.

The artwork sees the continual collaboration between Ryan and long-time friend and visual artist, Tom Ferson, who lino-cut and printed the piece, before adding colour digitally.
